Elgin is located in a friendly valley in Union County surrounded by big pine trees in the mountain wilderness, meadows in the foothills and farm fields in the low lands.  There is a population of around 1,680. The city is a small town, with fascinating people, classic houses, and historical buildings. Elgin is relatively isolated and has maintained a true small-town feel which is hard to find today. Elgin can be found against the backdrop of beautiful mountains, the Wallowa's to the east and the Blues to the west.
